However I hav a letter from them that shows that I was covered. They claim that I did not pay my payment and they canceled my insurance. I never received a letter from them saying it was canceled. Also, I payed my insurance with a money order, and have no proof that I paid them since I sent it in the mail.
It is not just a letter it is my policy statement from them showing the start and end date of my coverage.

How exactly does a letter show that you are covered at the time of the loss? I don’t think you are interpreting that "letter" correctly.

You don’t HAVE to receive a letter saying your policy is cancelled. All they have to do, is ATTEMPT to notify you. Easily 25% of the people who’s policies get cancelled for nonpayment, in my experience, claim that they didn’t receive a bill, or a cancellation notice. Some of them moved and left no forwarding address. That’s why, the insurance company only has to ATTEMPT to notify you. Otherwise, people would get free insurance, by throwing away the letters, unopened!

Your only recourse is to file a complaint with your state insurance commissioner – but most likely, if your money order was lost in the mail, or not received by the cancellation date, you really are cancelled. Companies don’t have to honor a postmark date. And they don’t have to reinstate you, if your policy has gone into cancellation status.

I am in a weekend-only program at my job. My employer does offer STDI, but not to employees in this program. I can’t even take a payroll deduction and pay for it myself. I am having a tough time finding an insurance company that will offer STD to me as an individual.
Have you used a reputable company that you could recommend?
Aflac replied that they only do payroll deduction at this time….

You tell them everything the ask for as they are interested only in what has happened in the last 5 years regardless of what has expired. The normally ask for the offence code, date of offence fine and ban if any – all of that will remain on your licence until at least 4 years from the date you committed the offence.
Whilst it is expired in terms of the DVLA totting up procedure if you fail to tell your insurer then they can make the insurance invalid in the event of a claim. When a claim is made they will want to see the licence

Others were not even worth considering because the premium came to around £1000. I was recommended Privilege from a friend, as that was the cheapest, and I have been with them since. Bear in mind that most companies take into consideration your age, no claims bonuses etc, so try a few places for quotes before you settle for one.

they certainly do share files, and they have access to hospital files as well….you cannot deny a pre-existing condition anymore, if it’s on file anywhere, the insurance companies all know about it.
