How do I find out the previous owner of my houses insurance claims?

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

I know there has to be a way, I know you can do it with cars and tell if they were in accidents so I would assume there has to be some way. Please help. Thanks for taking the time :)

The only way when you are getting insurance, make sure you do this IN ADVANCE (when you put in the bid & it is sigend), the company will likely run a CLUE report. This will give the dates, types of damages and amounts paid for any losses to the house. If the losses were not paid by insurance (the prior owner paid out of pocket), nothing will be there. Then, if you want to know who filed the claim (if the ownership has changed a few times in the last few years), go to your town or county clerk & look up the deed & see who owned the house. That is public record.

MY claim was denied by the insurance company Is it worth taking to small claims court?

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

I was rear ended by a driver. His house was up the street so we pulled in front of it.( yea yea i know that was very dumb, Ive heard it from everyone). But i didn’t think it would matter. The insurance denied my claim because he wasn’t cited. He hit me in the back regardless. Will i win in small claims court.

You will win if you have witnesses that say he hit you or
if he admits that he hit you.

What experience and education do I need to be an insurance claims adjuster?

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

I am 59 and looking to change from administrative assistant career to something else.

It depends on the company’s policy. My old company you needed a B.A./B.S. to be a casualty adjuster and only an A.A/A.S. to be an adjuster for single car claims. If you were a single car claims adjuster long enough you could move to the casualty adjuster.

I got the job right out of college with no experience just a degree.

Why should you use a disposable camera over a digital one for insurance claims?

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

I just saw someone recommend this and was curious why.

Altering digital photos is easier and may be suspect by insurance companies.

Buying a second hand car and need some advice on insurance claims?

Friday, October 30th, 2009

I was planning on buying a second hand car from a dealership. I got the serial number of the car to do a Car Proof check.

Well, I found out the car was in an accident (the dealer said it had not been) but what concerns me is that it says that "the insurer has not yet paid out the claim".

Does this mean the repairer of the car has not yet been paid, and if so, if I purchase this car, will it make me liable for the payment?

Please help!
Thanks!

It could be that the report has not been updated. If there are no Mechanic’s Liens on the vehicle then, the vehicle is clear to purchase. However this doesn’t mean that a mechanic won’t put on a lien an hour from now, tomorrow or the day after. It’s best to contact Car Proof and confirm this.

How do you become an insurance claims representative in NYC?

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Is there something specific that you have to study? or a license you need to get?

Most insurance companies require a 4 year college degree.

20+ years ago – you could be an adjuster with just a high school diploma. But today…..very few companies will even talk to you if you don’t have a 4 year degree.

The only exception to this — is companies will often hire body shop managers w/o a degree to work as vehicle damage appraisers. In this case, their experience as a body shop manager or owner will be enough.

Or if you do not have a college degree but have years of experience working as an adjuster – companies will consider you.

But with no experience– a 4 year degree is a must.

Now….it does not matter what the degree is in. I have worked with theater majors, dance majors, business, math, history…etc. If you are going to be working in injury claims – a biology, sports physiology, etc can be very helpful.

It’s easiest to get on with one of the big national carriers. Just start pounding the pavement and applying. If you know anyone in the field….give them a call. The big companies tend to have the most turn over….and therefore, are the easiest to get on with.

However, not all insurance companies are the same. So, if you get on with one of these big carriers and they are awful to work for (and some of them definitely are).. then stick it out for 2 years — get your experience and then try to get on with a better company.

Once a company hires you…they will train you and they will get you signed up for the licensing exam and any study you need. You don’t have to have the license in advance.

Being an adjuster is a hard job. Not everyone is cut out for it. I think all us adjuster are probably just a little bit off.

You work your fanny off..long hours- what ever it takes to get the job done….for little to no thanks…..catch a whole lot of grief and are generally stressed. If someone is talking to you…it’s because something rotten happened to them. – their car is wrecked, house is damage, spouse is hurt. They are going to take it out on someone and you’re it. But every now and then…something happens and you know why you do it.

Adjuster’s don’t do the job for pats on the back. It’s good pay…but you’ll never be rich. So, we don’t do it for the money.

We do it because we want help. We want to serve. We want to be there when things are at their worst. Like I said, it’s not for everyone.

You need to be organized, have good customer service skills, be able to think on your feet, think outside the box and solve problems. You will never be bored. You will always be challenged.

All in all….I love it and wouldn’t do anything else.

Good Luck

Does ICICI Prudential handles insurance claims genuinely?

Monday, October 26th, 2009

I heard that ICICI Prudential is not handling the insurance claims genuinely and they are naive and are worst in dealing death claims and funds settlement.

They can not do any fraud in funds settlement. Almost all insurance companies are worst in death claim as they simply say in some cases that death was due to a pre-existing condition.
