How can you fight and insurance company when they denie a clam for per existing conditions?

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

I had lab work to see my cholesterol level. The insurance company will not pay it because of pre exiting condition.

It would be difficult to fight them since you signed a contract that states you know that they will not pay for any services received because of a pre-existing condition.

What company provides a life insurance quoting engine software to install in an insurance agency website?

I need a software where I can input one (or more) life insurance company rates. Preferably if I have the freedom to input any company and not "pre-packaged" ones. Thanks.

Insurance company totaled my car, How much will i get for it?

Monday, November 16th, 2009

I was in a pretty bad accident and the insurance company says that my car is totaled and they will write me a check for the amount. My question is what amount? On KBB would it be the trade in value, private party value, or the suggested retail value?
It was not my fault, There insurance company is paying for it.

It will most likely be somewhere between private party value and Trade in value. Do some checking on the value of your car. The Insurance must replace the car. You DO NOT have to accept what they offer you for the car. You have to negotiate the amount of the settlement. They will most likely offer you less than the value of the car. If you and the adjuster don’t agree tell them you want a mediator. The mediator will make a final decision that you and the insurance company must accept.

What happens when an insurance company sends you a check for glasses, but you return the glasses?

Friday, November 13th, 2009

My insurance company sent me a check for $200. I ended up returning the glasses. Is it standard for a company to ask for the $200 back? Or is it assumed that because I am allowed $200 in my benefits that I keep it?

You should use the money to replace the glasses that you returned. If the new glasses are the same price or more, then no harm no foul. However, you should notify the insurance company if there was a difference in price that would have affected the amount you received.

If this is picked up in a provider audit or claim review (and they do them regularly), then you could see yourself at the other end of a fraud investigation.

It’s not okay to just keep the money. Insurance companies take this very seriously, no amount is too little, and they have entire departments to look at claims like this regularly; these people are professionals and aren’t necessarily very forgiving. It’s not worth the risk for $200.

I hope this helps.

How can I get mortgage company to endorse insurance check before work is done?

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

I have a check from my insurance company for hurricane damage. My mortgage company will not endorse the check until the work is done. I need the money to get the work done. How can I get the mortgage company to endorse the check ?

You can’t. But you could have your adjuster reissue the check directly to the contractor.

Any contractor should be willing to work with you on this – you’ll likely have to pay them your deductible, directly, but most REAL contractors that don’t scam you, should be willing to take payments as the job completes.

What is the easiest/cheapest insurance company in Ireland to get insured on with an endorsement and 5 points?

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

A friend of mine was caught drink driving and has gotten his licence back but with an endorsement and 5 points on his licence, any insurance company he has tried has turned him away.

What are his options car wise? And what are the best companies to go to? And also – he is 23 what price range would he be looking at?

Thanks in advance for the answers!

I have points myself, and on the back of my insurance renewal form it said something like ‘ in the event of an accident, non disclosure of penalty points, I would have to pay an extra excess of €400′, I didn’t bother telling the insurance company I had points.

Can our mortgage company require us to go with their insurance company?

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

We are in the process of trying to refinance with a new mortgage company. We currently have homeowner’s insurance through Farm Bureau Insurance, as well as boat, automobile, and life insurance. The mortgage company we are refinancing with is saying that we must have and escrow account and pay their OWN homeowner’s insurance, instead of Farm Bureau. I don’t want to do this because we get a multi-line discount at Farm Bureau, and I like them. Can they do this?

Absolutely not. Matter of fact, by law, they are required to have you sign an "ainti-coersion" disclosure. It states that they have NOT instructed you to, or required you to use a specific insurance company, to guarantee the closing of your loan. BIG no-no. The law was put in cto protect consumers from companies offering each other kick backs. "send me business, and I’ll send you business". It is fraud. You are encouraged as a consumer to shop for the best deal. That applies to the insurance company, mortgage company, title company, etc. Kick backs and "steering" is seriously frowned upon by the Department of Banking and Regulations. They are risking their license.
