    Unfortunately …
Unfortunately Jefferson was writing at the time when European governments deserved the scathing language. Today it’s private health insurance companies that are the parasite. Life is a complicated thing and it cannot be reduced to facile formulas. Certain domains are in fact best left to the government.

  2. yamasas Says:

    It’s a fact that …
It’s a fact that the U.S. pays more for healthcare than ANY other nation. The fairest way of measuring anything is by RESULTS. Moyers is “spot on” in this segment, outlining who is behind the disinformation campaign. It’s the Health Care Industry, Stupid!!! Yet, right-wing leaning folks like “hellotommy” below abound, planting talking points wherever intelligent discourse appears. “Well stupid is as stupid does.” Forrest Gump

  3. hellotommy Says:

    I predict future …
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them. – Thomas Jefferson

A government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take everything you have. – Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson is spinning in his grave. Don’t support Death care for grandpa and grandma. A government that governs least governs best. That’s an Americanism.

    Fookin’ libtards.
    Fookin’ libtards.

  5. mmclain68 Says:

    How many insurance …
How many insurance claims have been denied so the health insurance CEOs receive their multi million dollar salaries? We all pay taxes daily already. Why can not the existing portion of the taxes go into a health care pool? Everyone pays their fair share under the single payer plan. We all pay consumption and sales taxes.

  6. MagikPoo Says:

    At this rate, any …
At this rate, any kind of honest health care is needed. To date the free market, insurance industry have proven time and time again, that having a corporate CEO stand between you and your doctor can not work, and i very expencive. those bum are out of control.
Other country’s have made it work, so why cant we?

  7. paracletelux Says:

    I voted for Obama, …
I voted for Obama, but he is way off the mark with this: “Historically we’ve had a tradition of employer-based healthcare…you’ve got this system already in place. We don’t want this huge disruption…where suddenly we’re trying to reinvent 1/6th of our economy.” Yeah, we had a historical tradition of slavery, and it comprised a huge portion of our economy then too. “It’s tradition” is not a legitimate argument to continue an inhuman practice.

  8. aicram62 Says:

    I thought of this …
I thought of this too, how would we separate our taxes from others?

  9. aicram62 Says:

    half your income. …
half your income. You pay half your income just to insure yourself. why not help insure the whole nation for the same money.

  10. PhotoBen750 Says:

    Wake up America!!! …
Wake up America!!! The Pharmaceutical & Insurance Industry is paying big money to prevent you from greeting what every American deserves This is not a political issue. When you get sick no one will ask you what political affiliation you are This is a human issue and the question is how humane are you?

  11. bradensmagic Says:

    i love when i have …
i love when i have to pay over half of my income to pay for you. All liberals/socialist say this when it comes to spending
    Lets tax the wealthy.

  12. gbmarshall Says:

    Why can’t the …
Why can’t the unisured and the under-insured all start a new ‘insurance’ company that would be run as a single payer not-for-profit company? That would bring 100 million insured under one umbrella – 4 times the buying power of the entire Canadian system. The management team would be comprised of medical professionals – no high paid insurance executives allowed – no corruption. The board can be elected by the 100 million patients. Patients could ‘vote’ for how they want care, etc..

  13. gbmarshall Says:

    Actually, the …
Actually, the insurance executives should be sent to JAIL just as long as Madoff – 150 years. Or of course, maybe just string ‘em up for killing 20,000 people a year. That senator from Montana can join them.

  14. kilosierravabeach Says:

    the country is in …
the country is in debt now and this administration wants to waste more , its not the feds job to give us worse health care than we have now.the gov does nothing right and its void of lgic why i have to allocate funds to someone elses care when i have to pay mine if and it is my choice i should have to buy it if i want. typical of the gov not haveing anything to do and growing . simple reform is all we need, nobody gets turned away now for health care.

  15. wishyoucared Says:

    Wow, you are the …
Wow, you are the first person I know of who has good insurance AND wants single payer. Thank you for not being another “I got mine…” American.
    truly, thank you.

  16. wishyoucared Says:

    What’s so patriotic …
What’s so patriotic about saying, “we Americans are so lame at running our Govt. that there is no way we can do it”
Oh, I know that every other industrialized country in the world and some third world ones can do it, but there are problems in their system, so we can’t possibly do better.
Since when did we become the country of “We can’t.”?

  17. wishyoucared Says:

    Garyruehle! I love …
Garyruehle! I love you! please keep up the comments. Those of us who are ill and uninsured are too tired to keep up the good fight. Thanks.

    Bill Moyers is THE …
Bill Moyers is THE MAN and this video is amazing. I wish Moyers were President, he knows exactly what is going on AND what we need to do about it..

  19. paintingtasters Says:

    nice.. I had no …
nice.. I had no idea he made that much.. that’s a lot of money

  20. paintingtasters Says:

    How about just …
How about just ending the wars and cut some of the defense budget. That alone would be a great start.

  21. maulhoik Says:

    End both wars.
    Cut …

    End both wars.
    Cut the defense budget 40%
    Tax the wealthy 30%.
    Legalize pot.
This can give us healthcare and a sustainable budget.

  22. Yankhadenough Says:

    Garyruehle …
Garyruehle For-profit operates on premise of DOLLARS FOR DEATH.

Time to RICO all for-profit health insurance companies, and book their godfathers.

  23. Garyruehle Says:

    The ONLY problem …
The ONLY problem with our health insurance is that it is FOR PROFIT. The CEO of Aetna got $324,000,000 salary for 5 years. NO ONE is worth this kind of money. They have turned the insurance industry into a front for organized crime. If we put these CEO criminals in jail where they belong, pay a decient salary to a management team and put that money back to the patents, we could have almost FREE health care. Why is the Dept of justice not after them under RICO or organized crime statutes? JAIL

  24. leppy111 Says:

    That Doctor Gaitzer …
That Doctor Gaitzer or whatever is definitely not from Canada, we don’t have accents like that. He sounds like he’s from Boston and an obvious shill for the Insurance corps. and our system works, I like it.

  25. laurasIs2c Says:

    Thanks for the …
Thanks for the video… can we stop the companies that are profiting based on sickness to be wrong headed capitalists.
Capitalism that doesn’t consider value delivered earnestly is not the capitalism this USA wants or needs.

Capitalists that use capital to increase value to themselves and their customers are those to encourage.

Capitalism that profits at the expense of others is not a capital idea its just criminal for criminals and they should be jailed.
