What type of life insurance for elderly person?

WOW!! I was just dealt a low blow. My husband and I thought he had a life insurance policy and just now found out that he does not. Well he is old now. Between 79 and 82. He isn’t even sure which. OMG!
I know it is expensive, but what kind of life insurance can I get for someone his age that will help me and my minor son out when my husband dies? Does the life insurance company ask for a birth certificate???
I am so stressed I feel like puking!
Thanks ahead of time!

He doesn’t need life insurance. You’ll get social security and, hopefully, a job when/if he dies before you. What he really needs is long term disability insurance.

Forget the Insurance . No company would write him at that age at any price other than payed up . With that you would just get your money back. Too late for financial planning now.

AARP has life insurance. I got $10,000.00 when I was younger, but it was $48.00 a month, so I do not know what it would cost now. They do need a birth date, I think. If you know where he was born, you can get a copy of his birth certificate (the county and state Register of Deeds).

Well if you are 90 years old that would be elderly but why refer to yourself that way? If you are 60 you are middle aged. Anyway the life insurance policies are offered if you are under 85. You should call an insurance agent to see which plans fit your needs best. Check the ratings online. You have to have a medical for a good policy. The rates are determined by your health status.

TERM insurance… not "whole life" nor "annuity."

Check out the AARP insurance offers. As for what is needed, you’ll need to go by what they ask for.
